Of all the ailments known to man today, one stands out because it is becoming quite rampant and that disease is diabetes. Diabetes is described as an illness wherein there is an upsurge in sugar levels in the blood because the pancreas is no longer capable to make insulin or the insulin in the body no longer performs its function.

There are actually two variations of diabetes, caused by entirely different factors. A variation of diabetes is the Type 1 Diabetes which is actually an illness caused by the damage of the insulin-producing beta cells of the pancreas by the immune system of the body. One more variation of diabetes is the Type 2 Diabetes brought about by the human body's inability to react to insulin or the incapacity to make insulin.

Type 1 Diabetes is brought about by various causes such as viral diseases, stress, and even medications. The causes of the second type of diabetes are somehow different. These factors include obesity and the person's genes.

There's also a strong need to drink water to quench thirst.

This is brought about by the need to replenish the frequently released water due to urination. If you are also frequently hungry, then you might also be suffering from diabetes. This occurs because the cells in the body are craving for energy since they are not able to get to have glucose from the blood. Also because the body will try to use up all the energy available, you will also experience weight loss. Muscle tissue and fat will be broken down for energy.

Another outcome of the lack of food to cells is the increased fatigue that can lead to irritability. One more thing that becomes really evident with diabetes is the improper healing of cuts and bruises. This happens because the increased sugar in the body can halt the healing process. One last common symptom is tingling and numbness of the hands and feet that is brought about by the destruction of nerves in the body.
